Brief Answer:
Montelukast/cetrizine combination would help

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for asking on this platform

The most common cause of repeated cough/cold in this age is allergy.
Ascoril contains terbutalin(bronchodilator, which relieves airway spasm)with ambroxol(mucolytic, mucus thinning agent).
Adding montelukast(long acting antiallergic)with cetrizine(short acting antiallergic) like Montina-L/montair LC for 2-3 weeks, will help in early recovery and would also prevent recurrence.Giving steam inhalation also provides relief.
I wont get overly worried if child is active and there is no breathing difficulty.

Please let me know if you have any more query.
Regards

I would like to get him evaluated for any enlargement of tonsil(chronic tonsillitis).
Chronic tonsillitis is a common cause of persistent/recurrent cause of cough and cold in this age.Giving montelukast/cetrizine combination for 2-3 weeks would help in prevention of recurrence.
