Question: My wife XXXXXXX 79, had a long bout of bronchitis which has been very debilitating. It has left her feeling completely exhausted. Feels feverish every afternoon (but has no faever); eats almost nothing and has no appetite. Yet her vital signs are good. She's feeling alarmed and desperate.

If your wife has been having this problem for more than a fortnight, with fever and loss of weight, please get her tests for tuberculosis done.

You never know, she may have been exposed somewhere. Tests like TB gold, PCR, and ESR are recommended.
Also if she has an expectoration, test her deep cough sample of sputum for correct organism causing the problem along with culture and antibiotic sensitivity.It will also tell you correct antibiotic required.
