Question: Dear Doctor. . can you please help me with a 2nd opinion. . my friend is been suggested a operation to get rid of this problem. I am attaching a diagnosis from hospital.

Dear member,
Thanks for writing.
The diagnosis mentioned is perianal abscess. Abscess is collection of pus in a
localised area.
The patient has been advised antibiotics but for them to work effectively the
pus has to be drained or the bacteria inside the abscess will continue to grow
and make it bigger.
it is better to undergo the surgery which is a minor one.
Its called incision and drainage of the abscess. the patient will definitely have
relief from the throbbing pain associated with the abscess.
Its a minor surgery .
