Posted on Sat, 10 Dec 2016
Question: I fell from attic stairs onto concrete. I broke my pelvic ring on my right side. The emergency room took an x-ray to find the break. No other tests were run . Kept me overnight in hospital . Told me to stay XXXXXXX with a walker .
Was just wondering if this is the right procedure

Brief Answer:
Depends on severity and displacement.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
In case of fracture of the pelvic ring, bed rest is advised for proper healing in case there is an intense pain. If you have no pain and it is only a hair line fracture with no displacement then you can move with walker inside your house. It usually takes 4 weeks to heal.
Do take calcium supplements and a mild pain killer to combat the pain.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

I am in very bad pain, they have me on norco 7.5/325 every 6 hours. It helps but still quite painful!
It is not a hairline.... they said the top of the ring is broke.... not a bad break they say but only took an xray. They told me the more XXXXXXX i can be the better. I am using a walker

Brief Answer:
Rest is needed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
If there is a lot of pain then you need to have an absolute bed rest. Moving around can displace the fractured fragments and aggravate the pain. Avoid all painful movements. Proper rest will help in its healing in 4 weeks.
Hope my answer is helpful.
