Posted on Mon, 27 Jul 2015
Question: I feel air bubble sensations(palpitation like) around my heart. I've even checked my pulse and it skips a beat when the palpitation/air bubble feeling occurs.
Do I need to go to ER?

Brief Answer:
If persistent an ekg in er will help rule things out

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I am Dr Mody and will be helping you resolve your concerns.

Some helpful information would be your age, any comorbidities like hypertension, diabetes, obesity, previous heart issue, any medication you are on.

Now when you say that you have skipped beat with the unusual feeling you described 2 things that come to my mind is.

An ectopic beat - before I start I would reassurance you that it 90 % is benign, I mean it will not harm your health in any way. The reason why you may have it is varied. Maybe smokin, a bout of alcohol, lot of caffeine, no sleep, physical or mental stress or many disease condition. However to know the rhythm when you have the symptoms a EKG in er is something I will recommend. If they are very few but occur daily. A 24 hour holter recording is recommended. Now based on the pattern in ekg, the cause should be searched and than treated.
The other reason might be reflux gastritis (gerd) , here acid reflux from your stomach to food pipe may give similar feeling. So if you have history of dyspepsia /acidity. This might be the reason

So depending on the recent history and more details I would be able to help you narrow the cause.
Hoping I could help
Regards
