Suggest Treatment For Painful Thrombosied Hemorrhoids

default
Posted on Thu, 4 Sep 2014
Question: I have a thrombosed hemorrhoid plus two "regular" hemorrhoids, I've been in severe pain for 1 1/2 weeks. Doc has given me pain meds which help, it's too painful for sitz baths, but I'm using a gel heating pad. I've been using 1% cortisone cream as suggested. I've been on a liquid diet, but when I defecate I'm in excruciating pain, and it aches deep to my bones and up thru my vulva for hours. Could there be something else wrong?

Brief Answer:
Hi and welcome

Detailed Answer:
It is hard to say but further evaluation is neccesary. Thrombosied hemorrhoids are extremely painful condition and your symptoms are typical. This is obviously disease degree where the only therapy is surgical removal of hemorrhoids since it doesnt respond to conservative treatment. Steroid creams, sitz baths may help to relieve pain but it wont cure the cause. There are various surgical and laser therapies which can be performed by proctologist. Also, sometimes, some less common but more serious rectal lesions may cause similar symptoms so hemorrhoids may mimic tumors, polyps or fisures. Carcinoma cells can be also found on hemotrhoids which bleeds often. So as I said. it should be removed and sent to patohystologic analaysis. Wish you good health. Regards
