Suggest Treatment For Painful Thorn Pricks On The Palm And Fingertips

default
Posted on Tue, 8 Aug 2017
Question: I pulled a weed in my yard and ended up with the spines in my palm and fingertips. They are very small and can't be pulled out (or even seen), but they are really stinging and hurting. Is there anything to do to treat this? I don't know what kind of weed it was. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Disinfectant and antibiotic ointment

Detailed Answer:
Dear Ms, I have gone through your question and I understand your concerns...

I'd recommend that you soak the affected finger in antiseptic solution as Dettol or alcohol , apply an antibiotic ointment (eg. Mupirocin) and put a band-aid on it to prevent the splinter from moving any deeper. Hopefully, the spines will come out within a couple of days by itself.

In case of any increase in pain, swelling, or infection, you will need to go to the hospital to help you take the spines out.

I hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask further.
Kind regards
