Brief Answer:
Less likely to have gone down the wrong pipe, details below

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. It is less likely to have gone down the wrong pipe if you are breathing comfortably and there is no cough or pain in the throat. The cough reflex is a natural mechanism by which any object entering the airway is expelled out with force. If you did not have any cough after swallowing the pills then it is likely to have entered the food pipe which is the correct route.

2. It is possible that the pills might have momentarily scraped through the mucosal of the throat on their way down and that is why you are having a foreign body sensation even after downing water and hot tea. You might eat small amounts of any semisolid soft food like porridge and feel better.

3. Another possibility is that incidentally you might have developed sore throat and the passage of pills has made the symptom more obvious. If the irritation in throat persists more than a day and there is pain and discomfort then please consult your doctor for a throat examination.

Hope this answers your question. Please feel free to correct any oversight in my interpretation of your problems and discuss them in detail as per your requirements.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
