Question: My 5 1/2 year old broke his elbow (distal fibula?) this morning with a had fall off his bike. He is taking Motrin and Tylenol with codeine. Awake, he has complained frequently of his pain, but should I wake him through the night for his meds? They are "as needed" per ER.

Brief Answer:
No Need

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Those medicines are basically for pain
He is sleeping comfortably
So as of now he is not feeling any pain
Therefore I will suggest, avoid the medicine
When he wakes you can let him have them.
In fact if he is pain free (you will find kids take pain quite easily) you can skip them

Best of luck
