Question: For a week and 2 days now i have had chest and arm pain. It doesnt last constant. But seems to come and go. And hit in differwnt places. It started last thursday with pain in upper arm down thw tricep area and then also in my hand some. Around my palm and last 2 fingers. I have had a few days of moments of chest pain. But if i didnt have the arm symptoms i would be sure it was indigestion because it came on after eating smoked food and was accompanied by burping and a burning feeling when i did burp. But the chest pain was all the way along the too part of my chest. From left to right side. Not centered under the breast bone. Most of the time pains in the didferent locations arent hurting at the same time. I also have had a stabbing pain in the back left side below the shoulder blade. Once again i would say is gas or indigestion but evwrything i have read says indigestion should not be felt in the back. But what bothers me most is the arm pain. Last night i was eating and all if the sudden my elbow started to ache. And then i got this pinching feeling in the left side of my chest that went to the back tricep area of my arm. And it "pinched" with differwnt degrees of pain for about an hour. The elbow pain only lasted a few minutes. Anyway i have normal ecerything. Bp, chol and trig levels, 37 year old female, no family history at all either side for heart disease, have had normal ekg, stress test, and echo this year. So i dont know whats up. Right now my arm is good but have a the stabbing back pain under the left ahoulder blade. My question is if it is blockage can you have these symptoms on and off like this everyday. Pains and twinges in different places that come and go throughout the day? I have also heard stress tests arent reliable so how can you be sure you dont have blockage? I never seem to get out of breath, no unusual fatigue. I have had pacs for 6 years but they havent been too bad since all these pains have started. Just wondering about the left arm symptoms. If they are indicating a serious problem i should check out. I dont believe they are a pulled muscle or anything because they are not constant. I can move and use my arm without pain. They are just random out of the blue pinches and aches in upper arm, elbow, and hand.

Brief Answer:
Your symptoms are not cardiac related.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms don't seem to be related to any cardiac disorders( including coronoary artery disease).

So, relax!

Your symptoms are probably related to a backbone disorder or a slipped intervertebral disk, compressing the nerves of the arm.

The irradiations pain and pinches in the two fingers, are compatible with ulnar nerve compression.

I recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical examination, a cervical column X ray study and a nerve conduction study (electroneurography).

A cervical spine CT scan may be needed to examine better for possible slipped disk.

Hope to have been helpful!

Feel free to ask any questions whenever you need!
