Will take 1-2 weeks.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
A sudden twisting movement can cause a muscle sprain and tear of the fibers that becomes stiff and painful alter on. It can take 1-2 weeks for it to heal completely. Till then avoid all painful movements and avoid lying on the painful side. Do take an oral muscle relaxant. Doing a hot compress in the area will also help.
I hope this answers your query.

thanks. when I got up, I felt the jolt in the front underneath my right rib cage. a lot of my pain is in the side and right back. Is that normal? how often and how long do I keep heating pad on also, should I take Ibuprofen? thanks in advance
Brief Answer:
MRI scan will help in proper diagnosis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
The jolt under the rib cage is likely to be due to a muscle tear. It can cause a pain radiating to front and back. MRI scan will help in proper diagnosis.
Using a heat pad for 5-7 minutes at a gap of 5 minutes 3-4 times after every meal will help. You can take Ibuprofen for relief.
Hope my answer is helpful.
