Question: my mother, 62, had very few (total 5) teeths and that even creating problem. So i decided to go for full mouth denture. And my dentist plucked them all one by one including two molar teeth in the two sides of the lower jaw.
But once the left molar teeth(the one in the inner end) is plucked, mother started complaining of having problem to open the mouth------ having pain.
The problem continues for over two weeks now.
She can not open the mouth completely to take food also. only partially can open it, i mean it is reduced.
What should i do-----please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Either infection or jaw joint problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Thanks for the query..

The problem to open the mouth is appearing to be due to either infection or jaw joint dislocation during the procedure..
For confirmation you should consult an Oral Surgeon and get her clinically examined..
You can be advised a Panoramic x ray for checking the jaw joint..
Upload the reports so that I can guide you accordingly..
For now give her soft meals to avoid discomfort..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
Brief Answer:
Manual reduction can be done..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
Welcome back..

Your explanation further confirms towards jaw joint dislocation.
You should consult an Oral Surgeon.
Manual reduction can be done to replace the joint in appropriate position..
But I would advise you to get it done by an Oral Surgeon only..

Hope this helps..

Thank you madam for the answer.

Surely i will do as suggested.
In the mean time, i would like to know what procedure she may undergo if the lower jaw is dislocated.
I am asking this because manually i can feel that two sides are not symmetric------ easily can feel that the left side has XXXXXXX quite bumpy than the right when she tries to open the mouth.

Please suggest.

Brief Answer:
Operation not necessary..

Detailed Answer:
Hi..
It is not necessary that operation should be done and many times the doctor can reduce the jaw without operation also

During tooth extraction many a times excessive pressure or in.patirnts with wear muscles and ligaments can tend to get jaw dislocated..

So consulting an Oral Surgeon and getting it corrected is a proper line of treatment..

Hope this helps..
