Question: Hello! I have pain in the middle two fingers of my left hand. It started yesterday, with no observable injury. I drove to a funeral that was three hours away, and back, but it didn't get worse while doing that. this morning there is swelling at th bottom knuckle, where my middle finger joins my left hand. No bruising. no swelling in fingers or elsewhere. I am female, 72, in general good health. Not a diabetic.

Brief Answer:
Could be trigger finger.

Detailed Answer:
Hi , I am Dr.Gopal.Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion this swelling in your hand at the base of middle finger, is called trigger finger. For this I suggest you take pain killers, do hot fomentation and apply local analgesic cream
If you do not her relief in 10/days , then you may have to consult your orthopedic surgeon for proper diagnosis and treatment.
