Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Foot

Question: HI,
I have been getting a strange pain in my left foot. It comes about mostly if I bend with leg straight. It's a slightly quick sharp jolt that has the sensation like something is about to tear. I first noticed about a week ago and it was very infrequent, but now it is happening more frequently. The area of the pain is very localized. I can literally locate it by pressing on the spot. It doesn't produce the pain, but I can feel a very slight tenderness when I do that is exactly where the pain jolts happen. The area is on the left instep side of my heel area, I'd estimate about an inch in from the back of the heel and about an inch up from the bottom of the heel. I have no idea how I caused this as I don't remember any injury that occurred. My only guess is that I have tender feet and always walk with arch support and comfortable shoes but I went to a beach about a week ago and walked bear foot in the sand and then walked about a half hour in sandals.
I don't know if and how I can treat it. Whether heat or ice would be better, or what stretches or exercises, if any, would be helpful or hurtful. I really don't want this to get out of control and create difficulties with my ability to do long walks. Thank you for your patience with my long winded description.

Brief Answer:
Hello. Ice and oral ibuprofen can help for now

Detailed Answer:
Hello again. This sounds like a nerve pinch problem--possibly something called tarsal tunnel syndrome. While ice and oral ibuprofen will help for now, a cortisone injection by a doctor would more effectively treat it.
