Suggest Treatment For Pain In The Back After A Fall
Question: I am enquiring about mum aged 89.
Has been diagnosed fractured humerus following a fall.
Lot of pain at night describe as in back too.., .. .?
Is this normal? Told by dr can only take paracetamol due to blood pressure tablets ..?
Rest in bed only up v short period?,
Are we treating her correctly.. .?

In a fracture of humerus the pain in the area is a normal finding that can be reduced with proper immobilization. You need to get a cast applied or get the surgical fixation of the broken pieces done for relief. Taking pain killers like paracetamol will give only a temporary relief.
She needs to avoid any movement of the arm till then. Taking calcium supplements will also help.

They out mum in a sling but will ask at fracture clinic re different sling ?
