Suggest Treatment For Pain In Suprasternal Notch

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Sep 2014
Question: Pain in suprasternal notch when touched. Sometimes icy feeling same place. Came suddenly. Small lump. What could this be?

Also globus sensation in throat, doctor suspects reflux.

Thyroid tests normal 4 weeks ago, same with liver and kidneys.

Slight d vitamin and iron deficiency, but not anemic. Had hyperthyroidism during pregnancy, but this resolved upon giving birth 5 months ago. Also had emergency c section due to threathening eclampsia and severe preeclampsia. Blood pressure normal after 5 weeks.

Diagnosed with ME/cfs 4 yrs ago, but not severly affected.

Am also somewhat dizzy and nauseous. Weak feeling in legs and senditivity to noise. Blood glucose levels ate normal. Also have night sweats and palpitations on an off during the night.

Anxiety a possibility?

Not touching the notch often, but very painful to touch.

No infection, these tests were also normal. Blood pressure 110/70, pulse around 80.

Ok, it doesn't seem to be the thyroid. It is much lower than that, in the jugular notch, deep in, and it's not one small lump, more soft mushy lumpy texture. Also have none of the other symptoms of hyperthyroidism except nights sweats, but I honestly think that is anxiety since it dorsn't bother me during the day.

The pain also came on suddenly over the last 12 hours. No visible swelling. Am going to make an appointment with my GP tomorrow. I've taken regular thyroid tests the last year, and ever since 6 weeks after birth they have been normal so not suspecting that. Also slight pressure feeling in the same place. No other suggestions?

Thank you for your answer.

would a thymoma have showed up on an chest x-ray? I had one done 6 weeks ago.

Also is this something to acutely worry about, or is talking to my GP some day this week ok? He is usually quite busy.

Just worried since it all came about so quickly, somewhat scared that it was something I should go to the doctor for asap. Or can I relax? After severe preeclampsia I am more aware of symptoms, and have abit of health anxiety since I could have died. So if this is something I should not worry about then I'll try to relax. :-)

When it came this quickly isn't a lymph node more likely than cancer?

Also could I have aggrevated the pain by touching it?
