Suggest Treatment For Pain In Heel

default
Posted on Tue, 27 Oct 2015
Question: I have pain in the bottom of my heels, when I sleep, it seems to be more painful when I get up.
It seems to be less painful in the morning after I have moved around some, but gets worse throughout the day especially when I sit down for a little while, then stand again. I have been dealing with this for over a month.
What do you think the possible cause of this ?

Brief Answer:
It doesn't seem to be related to any systemic disease. Start the treatment!

Detailed Answer:
I welcome you back with a detailed follow up reply. I appreciate your efforts and support in order to get proper care and medical expertise here from me.

This isn't seem to be due to the systemic disease. It is locally present there in the heel and is due the inflammation of the heel. Reason may be local trauma to the bony tissue, bony spur formation that pinches on the soft tissues and hurt from inside, high uric acid or the other bone disease.

You need to start the treatment and will all be OK in no time. Just keep a proper care of the heel.

Management:-
Wear very soft sole shoes (best is the Joggers with memory foam inside and a diabetic cushion under the heal).
Apply Voltaren gel on the heel and sole of the foot and massage it gently before going to bed and just after you get up from bed.
Take Excedrin Extra strength by mouth 3 times a day for a week (no skipping). You will get better soon. After a week take it when you feel pain (if any).
Take a multivitamin with Zinc in it daily and keep a balanced healthy diet with avocado, kiwi, dry fruits, salmon, high fiber whole grains food. No processed meat and fried, junk foods. No beverages, no caffeinated drinks like tea coffee energy drinks and chocolates etc.
Apply ankle cap when at home to give support.
Give rest to the foot especially for the time you get better soon.
Before going to bed apply Thermacare HeatWrap on the back of the heel or keep a heat pad covering the whole foot. It will be soothing.
Take plenty of water.

Blood work needed:-
CBC with ESR and Differentials.
Serum Electrolytes.
Serum proteins.
Serum Uric acid.
Fasting blood sugar levels and HbA1c levels.
Fasting lipid profile.
X-Ray of the foot.
The testing is needed to completely rule out any systemic disease behind the issue.
