Question: Pain in lower left inner buttock cheek, especially when sitting or walking up stairs .pain lessens when lying down and a little when walking. Pain came on suddenly. The day before I was replacing my mattress and box spring and did moderate lifting . I have a history of epididymitis, an umbilical hernia, sciatica ( but never in this location and it comes and goes), Ed, diabetes, weak urinary stream, dripping, mild heart disease,I weigh 280 and am 5 7, have chronic testicle pain and swelling of scrotal sack, about once or twice a year for past decade, hesitant urination, and am on panteprozal for Gerd, metaformin, carvedilol, coq10, ramipril, omega 3 fish oil. Besides a general practioner, what type of specialist s should I see. P s, the pain is most intense when I sit on the toilet seat, not related to going to the bathroom, just the position on the hard seat pressing on my lower left buttock muscle all the way down towards the crease where the thigh, buttock and pereneum meet.

Brief Answer:
Please consult general surgeon or orthopedist.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

I assume that you suffer from diabetes (thats why you take Metformin), some fluid collection (an abscess) should be ruled out for sure. Even if you do not feel any hardness in this area.

Strained muscle, muscle inflammation should be also ruled out.

For sure you should consult general surgeon or orthopedist. Soft tissues ultrasound should be done to rule out both issues.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
