Suggest Treatment For Pain After Injury To Coccyx
Must rule out fracture with XRay
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
Thanks for the query.
I understand you have hurt your tailbone pretty bad.
Here are a few remedies to find relief in this condition -
(1) Avoid sitting on hard chairs. Use only soft cushion chairs to sit on.
(2) Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables to add roughage to your diet to avoid constipation because hard stools can press against the injured tailbone and cause severe pain. Drink 1-2 litres of water daily.
(3) You can perform Sitz baths, by immersing your buttocks with the tailbone region in a tub of warm water with salt added at times to remove the swelling and pain, causing relief. You can do this once or twice a da.
(4) You can take over the counter Tablet Ibuprofen 200mg twice a day for pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.
(5) If the pain is very severe and you aren't able to manage, you can consult your Doctor about the GANGLION IMPAR INJECTION where steroid injection can
be given with phenol if needed to cause pain relief.
As of now you can ice it but after few days if it still hurts, you may need to apply warm compress.
I would like to suggest that you get it looked at by your Orthopaedic surgeon who will take an XRay to look for any fracture, because if it is very unstable, it may need to be removed.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
Thanking you.
