Suggest Treatment For Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Hands
Question: Sometimes I am woken up by the sensation that my hands are on fire. It can be one or both hands. Flexing fingers, turning wrist, massaging the palm of my hand, holding them up over my head, hanging them down over the side of the bed - non of that seems to help. It usually happens between 3 and 5 am, and lasts for about 10 - 15 minutes regardless of what I do to try to make it go away.
All four of my siblings, and my dad have had carpal tunnel surg., bilaterally. I have the numbness and tingling that is often associated with carpal tunnel from time to time - usually when my hands have had to be extremely busy for a couple of times. It seems to always pop up at holidays, which I'm guessing is from the additional cooking and baking - especially chopping of fresh veggies.
I have splints from my Dr. for carpal tunnel that I wear at night - not every night of the year, probably about half of the year. They DO help for that, but don't seem to have any effect on the burning sensation that I've been getting.
