Suggest Treatment For Nose Bleeding Along With Sinus Pressure

default
Posted on Mon, 2 Feb 2015
Question: Should I not use sinus wash?
I have infrequent nosebleeds (it stops quickly using one kleenex) and pressure in my sinuses. Today I used a sinus wash squeeze bottle kit and my sinuses and nostrils burned. I followed the directions precisely. I have not rinsed my sinuses in a month.I've had a headache for 2 days along with sinus pressure and nosebleed (not a lot of blood)
I've had sinus surgery (last April 2014) to shrink my terbenites, correct my severely deviated septum, and balloons inserted to enlarge my sinus cavities.

I have a history of sinusitis and severe allergies to mold and dust.

Brief Answer:
Nasal examination, endosocpy, plain CT,

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. You need a nasal examination and preferably a diagnostic nasal endoscopy to check the reason for the nasal dryness and nosebleeds.

2. You should bring this to the notice of your surgeon.

3. A repeat plain CT PNS (Para Nasal Sinus) Scan will help. If you can upload pre and post op CT images, along with a few nasal endoscopy images, I will be able to give you an accurate assessment.

3. The sinus wash has to be with an alkaline solution. Home made salt solutions and tap water is not recommended.

4. Anti-histamines will control your allergy but will increase the dryness and nosebleeds. Nasal steroid sprays are also contraindicated with the nosebleeds.

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
