Detailed Answer:
I read your question carefully and I understand your concern.

There are many ways in which cervical disease may manifest. It depends also on the level where the symptoms originate. The most common symptom is pain. It can be limited to the neck or radiate in the back of the head or towards the shoulder and the limb. The area in which distribution it radiates depends as I said on the level involved, on which nerve is pinched, the MRI should evidence that.

Other symptoms may include weakness of the muscles innervated by the pinched nerves. Balance issues are also a possible manifestation. It happens when the upper cervical levels are involved where the nerves supplying information on the head and neck position pass.

I remain at your disposal for other questions.

Detailed Answer:
Sorry for answering a little late, very busy day at the hospital. By the way I notice your first question had a second part only now, I suppose you added the second part while I was writing my answer. However my answer has covered that as well, that pain radiating in the arm may be a manifestation of a pinched nerve.

Among other symptoms, if there is a pinched nerve there may also be paresthesias, abnormal sensations like tingling, burning in the area supplied by that nerve, of course the involved arew depends on the nerve. There can be altered reflexes, but that is something you can't test, it is the doctor who looks for that with a reflex hammer.

If there is compression of the spinal cord then there can be weakness not only of the upper but the lower limbs as well, balance issues again, increased reflexes and abnormal reflexes (again tested by physician) and spasticity, increased tonus of the limbs.

If no compression of the nerve or the spinal cord then apart from the pain I mentioned there can be neck stiffness as well.

I hope to have satisfied your curiosity. Let me know if I can further assist you.
