Suggest Treatment For Nausea,light Headedness And Sleepiness
Question: Dear Sir,
My mother has undergone pacemaker implantation due to sick sinus syndrome on Nov,2014. After 2 months due to VT/VF she lost consciousnesses twice and hospitalized again. After pacemaker reprogramming since feb,2015 she is having Metocard XL 50 as only medicine .
Currently she is complaining nausea, lightheaded, sleepiness. She also complains that her eyes are heavy . This is happening everyday. She does not have sugar,pressure. She has immature cataract in both of her eyes.
Doctor is still continuing Metocard. Can you please suggest why this is happening ? what should I do?

I am Dr.Ajay Panwar,a neurologist,here to answer your query.
If your mother would have presented to me as an outpatient with this clinical history,I would have checked her blood pressure and pulse rate first of all,to see for any evidence of hypotension and arrhythmia.This may be one possibility,considering her cardiac background.
Secondly,Tension type headache or Stress headache can result in similar manifestations.I suggest you to please hydrate her well and get her screened for abnormalities in blood pressure,pulse rate and preferably a repeat ECG.
Cardiologist's opinion should also be taken.
Secondly,let her start doing some mental relaxation exercises like meditation regularly.Medicines like amitriptyline in low dose can be added,which will help out with the stress headache component.
PLEASE TAKE ALL MEDICINES UNDER YOUR PHYSICIAN'S GUIDANCE.
