Brief Answer:
As explained.

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
Read and understood the history related to your wife. She complains of mouth ulcers often and feels unbearable pain in her mouth.
Wants to know the reason:

The commonest cause is recurrent aphthous ulcers. These are up to 3 mm in size and heal on their own in 3 to 7 days. Another reason is stomatitis.
The exact cause of the reason why one get is well studied but not yet found hence the treatment is always empirical.
It may be related to the stress, anxiety, bad stomach meaning colitis or so.
In any such a condition the integrity of the mucus lining is disturbed hence it get the ulceration so easily.

The treatment is empirical:
Vit A and Vit D in therapeutic doses,
Multiviatamins with Lycopene.
probiotics,
anxiolytics help a lot.
Oral steroids very short course as an anti-inflammatory if required, the painkillers and so on.

This helps in most of my patients with proper understanding of which one to take when..

I hope this helps your wife.
