Question: My daughter is 2 months old and she got heart rash when she is 1month old and dr suggested to feed my baby with isomil and my breast milk. After few days she is completely recovered. But from 25th july she has luittle bit of blood in her stool. Dr asked us to do stool culture, stool routine and stool for reducing substances. All the reports are normal but still little bit of blood is seen. Dr asked me to stop giving breast milk and asked me to feed only isomil or zerolac. Its been 7days now but still blood is seen in stool. Doctor said to use z&d syrup and zenflox plus syrup and enterogermina suspension. Please suggest what I need to do to avoid this and what makes the over heat in my baby gets reduced

Brief Answer:
I would like to give protein hydrolysate formula

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I have gone through the details and to me it appears to be milk protein allergy/soya allergy.

Most common cause of stool mixed with blood in early infancy is milk protein allergy or soya allergy.
Other common cause is vitamin K defeciency.
Isomil and zerolac both are lactose free soya based formula and is advised in milk protein allergy.
If there is milk protein allergy,it has been seen 40% of them also can have soya allergy.
I would like to give hydrolysate formula like infamil,as it can be given both in milk protein and soya allergy.
I would like to rule out vitamin K deficiency as it is next common cause of blood in stool.
Inj vitamin K should be given if vitamin K deficiency is suspected.

I would like to continue the present medication and suggest you to change to protein hydrolysate formula.
Discuss with your physician about the possibility of vitamin K deficiency and need of USG abdomen to rule out any surgical condition.

Please let me know if you have any more doubt.
Regards
