Suggest Treatment For Mild Acne And Pimples On Face

Question: Hi

I have always had mild acne/pimples on my face since I was a teenager. I had consulted a dermatologist back then, he suggested tretinoin, which when began to help, I overused it. I believe that and the excessive scrubbing (walnut OTC scrub) that I used, made my skin dry out. With an an oily skin it seems a blessing, but over continual use, it has made my skin excessively sensitive to anything new and also enlarged my skin pores.

Last year, I had also tried glycolic peels and dermabrasion. which first alleviated and then worsened the problem. I had very bad flare of acne for about 6 months, leaving my skin scarred.

So now I have stayed away from everything for the longest time - with a skin that is much better except for the occasional pimple due to monthly hormonal flare or use of a new cosmetic product. However, I would like something to help me with the enlarged pores and acne scars which make my skin look dull.

Please tell me simple to find solutions which help me settle into a stabilized skin routine and help improve the skin in the long term. ( I will be 30 next year)

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.
I have read your query.
I understand your concern.
The treatment of pimples depends on the type of lesions and grade of acne.
In mild acne, I prefer to advise topical clindamycin in the morning which you are already applying and Benzoyl peroxide in night time.
You have mentioned that you are using betnovate also. I would highly recommend you to stop betnovate application on face. It would worsen your skin in long run.
I would like to know following details -
1 ) Do you currently have acne or only acne scars?
2) Did your doctor prescribed you betnovate or you started of your own?
3) Are you applying betnovate on whole face and for how long?
4 ) Do you have dry skin now or still oily?

Kindly upload the images so that I can visualize your skin and reply to my questions so that I can help you to my best.
Take care.
