Brief Answer:
1 mg finasteride is safe.Minoxidil will also work.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to health care magic.

Finasteride is regularly used for male pattern baldness.Dose prescribed is low (1 mg).It is unusual to have serious side effects at this dose.So you need not to worry much.

Many studies have shown that finasteride 1 mg is safe for male pattern hair loss.

Other gold standard treatment is minoxidil.A 5% lotion applied locally give good results.I hope your doctor has already prescribed minoxidil.

A new drug dutasteride is also available. It acts only on hair follicles and is free from side effects.

Newer treatments such as mesotherapy, hair transplant are also available now days and they produce excellent results.

In short I will advise you to have faith in your doctor and let her be the best judge. You can discuss the treatment modalities discussed above with her.

Hope this will solve your query. In case of any concerns I will be happy to help you.Take care.

Thnks for the reply...The doctor did not suggest me minoxidil but instead recommended me to apply grocapix gel in the morning and 12.5% morr lotion before going to bed...I wanted to know whether the medicines prescribed by my doctor help in restoring the lost hair...How serious is the problem? and are there any home remedies for it.

Brief Answer:
morr contains minoxidil.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for follow up.

Morr contains minoxidil.Minoxidil is the name of drug and there are many brands available in market.

All medications prescribed are for restoring hair growth. However treatment is prolonged. It will be better to be in regular follow up with your doctor.

As far as my knowledge,no home remedies are available to prevent male pattern baldness.

Take care.
