Suggest Treatment For Lymphatic Pain In The Underarm And Groin

default
Posted on Mon, 23 Mar 2015
Question: I had a tdap shot 5 weeks ago, and two days after the shot I developed a watery sac above the left clavicle; along with pain lymphatic pain in underarm and groin - all on the same side as the shot. First visit to medical help shed concern for swollen lymph around clavicle and up back of neck on same side. Mammogram, x-ray, bloodwork, thyroid tests came back normal. 2nd visit to doctor proved no redness, but piercing pain at shot site as provider was able to see site. One 7 day round of Amoxicillin shrinked the sac, but did not remove. While waiting, size returned to pre-antibiotic state. Now on 10 day round of same antiobiotic. As of day 7, swelling still there, but decreased. Doctor is talking about referring me to ENT if not down by end of round. Also, I Have been leaning over computer and sleeping/resting on stiffer coconut pillow. Back of neck is feeling stiff with dull ache on left side with some small pinpointed pain behind left areola and above back shoulder blade area and some dull pain in armpit area at time. None of this came about until right after Tdap.

Brief Answer:
needs ultrasound neck followed by fine needle aspiration cytolgy.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

I had gone through your question and understand your concerns that you are having swelling above the left clavicle.

Based on your clinical details, It appears to be supraclavicular lymphadenopathy secondary to vaccine assault or due to some infection.

Commonly, left supraclavicular lymph nodes drains Thorax, abdomen via thoracic duct.

I suggest you to go for ent consultation, ultrasound neck (size, texture appearance of neck node), fine node aspiration cytology of node, if necessary ct neck (to see drainage obstruction). Treatment can be started as per the findings.

Hope this answers your question, if you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.

Wishing you good health.
