Question: My brother had a lung infection, and was hospitalized with chest tubes for nearly a month, several years ago (about 15 years). The doctors were not able to identify the cause, so they used several types of antibiotics both in his arms , and left leg. The antibiotics killed the veins in his leg, causing poor circulation, and constant wound clusters of dead flesh on the inside of his leg just above the ankle extending about 7 to 8 inches by about 5 inches wide. He has been battling these wounds with little success, and some help from urgent care facilities. He now has a Blue Cross HMO and would like to find a specialist near Granada Hills, California, 91344 ASAP.
Please help me find a specialist.

Hello, Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should consult plastic surgeon. Your brother is having non healing ulcers in affected areas. The most common causes are
1. Poor blood supply
2. Infection
I also suggest you to under go doppler study of arteries and veins both. This will tell you about blood circulation.and also about the cause of the same.
Long standing dead tissue needs thorough debridement and reconstructive skin surgery with skin graft. For all these you need to consult plastic surgeon. Consult him and discuss these things with him.
