Posted on Mon, 18 Jan 2016
Question: I have a have a lump under the skin of my left leg, just right of the center of my shin on the side. It has been there about 2 years , it is not painful, no discolorisation of skin or ohter problems. It can be only seen from outside if you compare two legs and it is barely noticed. I can feel it some days more than ohter days and more when i strenghten my muscles. In normal it is barely touchable with my händ. It has been in the same place and has not grown.. about 1,5 - 2 inch size. I only know i have a lump when i touch it and try to find it. Also it is a little gentle after i have been touching it for awhile but not usually. Like said, barely noticeble from outside and sometimes have to touvh lõng time to find it. What can it be... is it cancer or something not so bad. I am worried because it has not gone away

Brief Answer:
Benign lipoma is the most probable diagnosis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

This is not a cancer for sure. Please note that we can suspect soft tissues cancer if the lump grows really fast. Otherwise, soft tissues cancer is hardly possible.

From your description most probable reason of this lump is lipoma. This kind of lump is benign, and almost never turns into a cancer. Lipoma is build of dense fatty tissue. It may be hardly palpable when there is a fatty tissue around it.

As you have it for years, its small and does not get larger fast, you should not be worried at all. Just leave it alone.

In case you would like to have it diagnosed, soft tissues ultrasound is a good idea.

Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
