Brief Answer:
few possible causes

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
Well, cancer is the last thing to think of.
If this is soft, unmoveable then it may be fibroma, lipoma or lymph node and for exact diagnosis you need to do ultrasound with needle biopsy. If this is hard like bone then it may be osteoma or chondroma and you should do xrays of sternum and ribs. In every case if this is not painful and not growing then therapy is not required. Wish you good health. Regards

is there any possibility it can be a cyst. and the size varies from one day to the next. sometimes it's bigger and sometimes it's smaller. when I first felt it over a year ago, I thought it was a pimple and I squeezed it hard, it popped but internally and the mass went down.. but it grew back it's harder then before tho, the first time it was felt squeezable now it just feels like a clump .

Brief Answer:
possible

Detailed Answer:
Yes, it may be a cyst such as ateroma. Or this is fibroma after folliculitis, or fibrosed hematoma. In every case these lesions are benign. It can be surgically removed if grows or if there is a cosmetic concern.
