Suggest Treatment For Lower Back Pain

default
Posted on Tue, 16 Aug 2016
Question: I've been having sever pain in my lower back in the middle and the right side. The doctor had put me on a steroid pack and gave a shot for inflammation about a month and a half ago. The pain has been going on for about three months now and I havent been able to get it to stop. They put me on muscle relaxers as well but they didnt help. I had mono back in october of 2015 and a kidney infection as well which put me in the hospital for 3 days. I havent had much of a fever, it has stayed between 99.0-101.2. I'm not very sure on what to do now because the doctors havent been much help lately. They just run urine samples and tell me to lay on ice/heating pad.

Brief Answer:
Please get an X Ray of LS spine done and share the report.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone through your query and understand your concerns. It is possible that you have lumbar spondylosis which is possibly the cause of your low back pain. It is possible that this is leading to compression of the spinal nerves thereby causing the pain. An X Ray of the Lumbosacral Spine (AP and lateral) needs to be done in order to confirm the same. Based on the findings, the treatment will be physical therapy or vertebral traction. I would insist you to get it done and to share the report with me. Based on the inputs I will definitely guide you further. Hot compress should provide relief.

The mono and kidney infection that you had at that time are not related and I would not worry about them. However, it might be worthwhile to get an urine microscropy and culture done to rule out the possibility of a kidney infection.
