To check for bone marrow disease. Avoid injury

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
I'm Dr. Shuba Hariprasad and will be answering your query today.

Would you clarify a few things for me please?
*what exactly is your platelet level. Please mention with units.
*do you have any bleeding or red /purplish spots anywhere in your body?
*do you consume alcohol?
*any other medical issues or medications that you take?
*any recent illness?
*any history of cancer in the family?
*any abdomen pain or fever, blood in stools?

Low platelets (THROMBOCYTOPENIA-TCP) is due to either reduced production or increased destruction.

Some causes are bone marrow disease,, splenic enlargement, liver disease, autoimmune disorder, exposure to chemicals/ radiation, leukemia, infection and certain medications.

I recommend :
-a hematologist Consult as adviced
-blood tests (complete blood count, peripheral smear, iron levels, vitamin b12 &folate levels, d-dimer, platelet antibodies, clotting parameters,
Fibrinogen level and fibrinogen degradation products)
-ultrasound abdomen
-bone marrow biopsy

Based on the clinical findings and test results, a treatment plan will be made.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

If you develop any bleeding, or severe abdominal pain, headaches, go to the ER right away.

Wish you good health.
Regards,
Dr. Shuba Hariprasad
