Suggest Treatment For Low Grade Fever And Numbness In The Right Leg

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Oct 2015
Question: I recently had the flu (not the usual type) I had numbness in my right leg and low grade fever. I recovered completely, but last week I had another chill which gave me similar symptoms, weakness, loss of appetite, dullness, mild fever and the skin feeling numb, this time in my hands and legs. I am 71 years of age and my BP is 110/70. Last night I broke out in a sweat, felt like i was going to vomit, i felt hot even so the temperature was about 16 degrees C. This morning I have weakness in my leg, like my knees will give way. I have to walk carefully.

Brief Answer:
Due to weakness by viral fever.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The symptoms that you have can be related to the recent viral infection that you had. The weakness caused by the infection can cause this. You also need to get your vitamin B 12 levels evaluated.
Please do not worry, avoid stress, smoking, caffeine and alcohol to have better relief.
Also try to include a mild exercise schedule like yoga in your daily lifestyle.
If you notice any twitches, discolouration or motor weakness of limbs then please do seek prompt consultation with an urgent care facility.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.

The numbness on the right side, right arm and right leg and weakness in the right leg can that be a precursor to a stroke?

Brief Answer:
Stroke is less likely possibility.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
Stroke is less likely as you have a history of flu earlier. In case the symptoms are persistent then it is best to consult a neurologist for a detailed evaluation.
Hope my answer is helpful.
