Brief Answer:
Treatment in right direction. ORS needs to be given along.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

If a child has diarrhoea/loose motion, the mainstay of treatment is to replenish the salt and water lost with the stool. If it is not done properly, there would be dehydration. Oral rehydration solution (ORS) prepared by mixing a full XXXXXXX in the designated amount of water (200 ml or 1 litre depending upon the size of the sachet) is to be given sip by sip in order to maintain the fluid balance.

Along with that please continue the antibiotics (OFM suspension) for 5 days. Since you have begun the dose, it needs to be completed. But let me mention that children frequently suffer from viral diarrhoea that gradually subsides on its own. Please be patient. If you replenish for the loss, you need not be worried if the passage of loose stool continues.

Also give plenty of curd/yogurt which contains beneficial bacteria which is also contained in Enterogermina and helps in replenishing the normal flora of our intestine. Prowel also helps in increasing growth of such organisms and your doctor had done the right thing in giving them. If I had a patient like her, I would have asked her to take some zinc supplement like Zinconia 5 ml once daily for a week.

Hope that helps.
