Suggest Treatment For Left Flank Pain
Simple analgesics, watch for fever, vomiting, constipation of persistence
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for the query,
It might be of interest to know if this is the first time you are experiencing such a pain or not. In case this is the very first time, it might deserve to be treated with much caution and attention. Do you experience other signs and symptoms like fever, nausea or vomiting? This could be indicative of an infection.
If the pain persists with pain killers and drinking much water, meeting your emergency physician could be a good option. Your doctor's examination and a simple abdominal ultrasound and stool examination shall give an appropriate diagnosis.
It is not however rare to experience some intermittent pains and colics in the abdomen which often pass without causing anything serious.
I will suggest you take simple Acetaminophen, and an anti spasmodic drug, but watch carefully for intensification of pain, nausea, vomiting, fever , diarrhea or constipation. In case any of these symptoms add to the present pain or the pain persists, you might have to see your emergency doctor. Drinking much water could be also helpful in case of renal/kidney colics.
Kind regards,
Dr Bain
