Question: How to get rid of knee pains; I often suffer from them, when I work for some time in standing posture. Please provide the diet and the medicine that I have to follow in order to get rid of them.
Currently I am taking B-Vitamin tablets as suggested by a doctor near by my home... and also taking the dry fruits ( Not sure whether they are helpful or not )

Hi there.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

I have read your query and understood your problem.

There are many causes for knee pain. They include infection, trauma, crystalline arthritis, Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Chondromalacia patellae, osteochondritis etc.

In older age persons more common causes are Osteoarthritis which occur due to degenerative changes of the knee joint cartilage.

In middle age persons, Gouty arthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis can be common causes.

Pain occurs on trying to squat, climbing stairs, sitting for long duration, cross leg sitting, during weight gain etc.

Hence it is important to avoid the same to prevent aggravation of the problem.

Avoid eating diet rich in red meat, chicken, meat gravies, oily fish, alcohol. Avoid smoking. Keep well hydrated. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables.

You can apply an elastic knee cap to both the knees which may help can ertain arthritic conditions and traumatic ligament injuries especially if there is knee instability. You may take Paracetamol tablet for managing the knee pain. You may perform warm soaks over the knees to help reduce the pain.

Kindly consult your Orthopaedic surgeon to get a thorough physical examination and Xray and MRI as needed to rule out various conditions causing you this problem and treat the problem accordingly.

I hope I have answered your query.

Thanking you,
