Suggest Treatment For Knee Pain

Question: Hi, my name is XXXX and I am 73 years old. about 3 months ago I experienced severe pain in my knee when I was kneeling down. The pain was mostly on the inside of my knee and radiated from there over the entire knee. I also discovered swelling in the back of my knee. (Bakers cyst) After X-rays and a visit to an orthopedic surgeon the combined diagnosis was artritis. Since the pain never got better and I developed swelling from my knee down Ultra sound showed nothing unusual. My Dr subscribed physical therapy. It was the physical therapist that mentioned that the symptoms I had could be a tear in the meniscus. So far I had two sessions of PT and am doing exercises at home. So far the pain has gotten worse rather than better. My question is what am I to do next. Keep on with PT and ignore the pain or seek another opinion. I would very much appreciate your input.
Thank you

Brief Answer:
MRI test of knee is recommended

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for posting
I have gone through suffering carefully, I need to see x-ray picture of knee. So, and you may send the same in your reply. Baker cyst most of the time are painless.
The best investigation to assess the health of meniscus and other knee ligament is MRI.You may get it done after discussion with your local doctor.
As far PT is concern you may discontinue for the time being till we reach some diagnosis. Do you ever have locking of knee as this is suggestive of meniscus injury?
Hope this helps and I shall be glad to answer any further query.
Regards
