default
Posted on Wed, 15 Mar 2017
Question: To Dr. Siegel or Dr. XXXXXXX on Feb. 8 i had Reverse total shoulder replacement. I want to know if you have any tips to make me feel better, especially with knee pain and sleeping. I had 2 knee replacements left knee 2007 and rt knee replacement 2009. When in bed with being propped up with bed rest pillow to be seated mostly, the right knee is miserable with charley horse pain and back of hip pain spasm. Heat wrap around
Rt leg helps a little. Also tried ice. Do i need to do certain knee exercises during the day to avoid pain to sleep? Also above biceps on arm hurts some of time. Not helpful to call dr.s, they had me talk to P.A. Knee surgeon in previous time, not helpful with other knee pain.
My check up is Feb 27. Scar looks ggod. Tnx. XXXXXXX Bohne YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
You need to check your vitamins level and muscle strength

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case. There are some patients with knee pain who continue to have sleepless night and pain. Most common causes are vitamin B 12 deficiency and vitamin D3 deficiency. Apart from this sometimes there is the lack of proteins which can cause muscle weakness. So I have following suggestions for you.
1.Get your vitamin D 3 and vitamin B12 level.
2.If there is low D3 then you need to take 60000 unit vitamin D 3 daily.
3.if there is low B 12 then take tablet Methylcobal daily.
4.Taking Gabapentin one daily also helps.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you. Let me know if there is any other follow-up questions.
thanks
