Brief answer....surgical removal is the answer.
Detailed answer....
Hello,
Thanks for the query.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
Kidney swelling ( hydronephrosis ) means that your kidney has swollen because of back pressure and this is causing a gradual damage to the kidney.
If stone is not removed and proper flow of urine not maintained between kidney and ureter, you kidney will ultimately get damaged completely and will become a non functional kidney.
Since a stone of more than 1 cm can not pass of its own and since your kidney is swollen, there is no way of treatment except surgery.
I would advise you not to try various available so called medical methods of removal of stone by so called various medicines because you would  waste time and would harm your kidney more. Your stone is lodged at a place where automatic passage of stone would be almost impossible.
You need to consult a urosurgeon and get it done as early as possible.
I hope it helps, however you are most welcome to revert to me for any further query.
Best of luck
Thanks

Hello,
Non functioning kidney only means that contrast media is not being visualised in the kidney. It doesn't mean that kidney has totally lost its function.
There is presence of stone in renal region.
Thanks
