Question: ten days ago i had severe pain in the lower rt jaw with. I went to the dentist there was no infection he took X-ray of where i told him it hurt. No infection! Well went to my medical doctor he gives me antibiotic and tells me to go back to dentist if it did not get better. Well two days ago again the pain near lower rt bone (jaw),go to dentist and now he says that i seem to have an infection on the bone beneath the tooth which i had root canal more than a year ago but no infection on the tooth he gives me cipro and Ibuprofen for pain. Today I woke up with my cheek swollen and some discomfort. I thinking of going to the hospital if this continues! what do you recommend ???

Brief Answer: It can be infection in root canal Detailed Answer: Hi I have studied your case and from your history it looks to me that you may be having infection in base of tooth or root. I do not agree with antibiotic though as I would prefer Augmantin tablet at the place of Ciplox. This is broad spectrum and better cover all bacteria. Also you should use diclofenec tablet for pain and inflammation. I would also suggest Chlorhexidine mouth gargle three times a day. Avoid taking very cold or warm thing. Take semisolid food. If your symptom does not improve then consult with dentist and you may need a minor surgery also. I think this answers all your queries. Let me know if you want to ask any thing else.
