Suggest Treatment For Itchy Rashes In The Groin Area

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Nov 2016
Question: Hi ,

For the past couple of weeks I have been really concerned with my groin area , as in between my thighs and groin I have strange looking scaly and itchy skin and if I scratch it , it becomes quite red and sore. My left thigh actually has a brownish/black dot of some sort which I am not sure what it is.

Also the pubic area just above the penis I shaved about 1.5 weeks ago as it was very itchy and burning. Initially I suspected it was itchy due to not shaving & when taking a shower it would sting , however once I shaved there was some small circle like red sores & some that were bleeding! Now they have gotten better , after I have used some creams!

Also during the day after a while I get the strangest feeling in my groin area as though it's damp or wet? & a strange feeling of droplets of water landing on my leg or as though I have urinated in my pants. When I check it doesn't seem to be the case & seems dry. But I occasionally have an urge to urinate or always have the feeling , if I have even a small amount of fluid I will need to go. I urinate 10 times a day almost. Even once I have urinated , it's as though I need to go again! My bladder feels like it has become very weak.

Brief Answer:
Most likely fungal infection - tinea.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM

I have gone through your query.

Your problem can be most likely due to fungal infection- Tinea. If you send some pictures of lesions then it will be more helpful.
For such condition I would suggest anti fungal creams like miconazole or terbinafine for local application. You can use pevaryl foaming solution also. This you should continue for 2 weeks.
Avoid using hydrocortisone alone as it can worsen the fungal infection. Avoid using soaps and irritants in genital area also as it can irritate more. You can use just warm water for washing. A culture and sensitivity of swab of the oozing fluids can be done to find the microorganism responsible for this.

Kindly see a dermatologist for correct diagnosis and treatment.

Let me know if anything not clear.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.
