Your son seems to have developed an insect dermatitis.
This is basically an allergic reaction caused due to insect movement over the body , leading to redness and swelling at the area of contact with the insect body secretions . The linear line indicates the movement of the vector over the body .
Apply a topical steroid cream like cortisone cream over the affected area twice daily. Take some oral antihistamines like levocetrizine once daily at night to relieve the itching.
I am sure thus will relieve the rash in three to five days .
