Suggest Treatment For Itchy Patch Of Rash On Back, Shoulder And Legs

Question: I have a patchy rash on my back, upper shoulder, back of scalp, legs and small patches on my arms. they itch for about a month before resolving and by that time i have more. the dermatologist said it was from mites. I took his advice and had my dog vaccinated with ivermectine, we even moved the rash never went away and its been months now. sometime i notice some of them form a white scab and if i remove it they have a pit underneath with some small amounts of puss. could this be a staph infection? the dermatologist also gave me a two month perscription of 500 mg antibiotics. I finished the first month and I still have them. maybe i need a stronger dose or different antibiotic? What do you think?

I wondered if it was eczema but others I know who have it seem to have a different condition than myself. I guess it is still a possibility. the dermatologist did a scraping and found no fungus or abnormal bacteria in the skin. the lesions always form a scab even with minimal scratching. maybe this helps?

Hi.

From your description this seems like an infected eczematous condition to me. Itching, oozing and crusting are all suggestive of this.
However, I would have been able to guide you better once I have a look at it. Therefore I request you to kindly upload a few Images

For an eczematous skin condition I would normally advice my patients to use a topical potent steroid+antibiotic combination cream, twice daily for 2-3 weeks e.g clobetasol propionate 0.05%+neomycin sulphate 0.5%.

Topical steroids are prescription drugs and should be used under supervision of a dermatologist and not for more than 2-3 weeks without following up with dermatologist.

since there is also some oozing/crusting as well which suggest that there is some superimposed bacterial infection as well, due to scratching, therefore I suggest that you also be started on an Oral antibiotic e.g Amoxycillin thrice daily for a week.
Oral antibiotic would take care of the secondary bacterial infection.
Oral antibiotics are prescription medications.

An oral antihistamine e.g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will provide you symptomatic relief from itching.
