Brief Answer:
Please be so kind as to help me get some information from him

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome.

Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query with diligence and would like you to know that I am here to help. I need some more information on the topic and would really appreciate it if you can communicate with him and get me a response on a few questions I have, this would really help as I do not have the option to contact him through the site.

Could you please ask him if:

+Symptoms are worsened when his leg is lowered?
+Presence of a mild fever
+History of any recent intra-venous injections that were administered to him?
+Spreading of the redness, itching and pain in a spider like pattern?
+Sexual status and history of sexual contact with sex workers?
+Where the blisters, redness and itching is present? Whether only on one part of his body or different parts?

Please do me this favour, and ask him these questions and kindly write back to me. I would really like to help him, and need your help to reach him as I cannot do so directly through the site.

Looking forward to hearing from you with some more information from him. Once I have that information, I will be able to show him the way forward. Thank you.

Best wishes.

I received a message. It reads as follows:
Yes, it worsened. I used to have it all of my body but it disappeared in some spots and comes back occasionally. I have it all over my body as some dry up and peel off some come back again.Yes there is a lot of itching on spots and painful when scratched or touched. No, have not been sick, been weak and tired but don't consider sick.Have been given several antibiotics and camelite lotion. Also used anti fungal cream but would go for day or two then others came.Dr here said it is related to chicken pox family and is stubborn and may come back if not treated well. Have taken all the meds prescribed and they still come.Last time I was sick took an injection in May/June of last year.Sexual status, I am straight and active. Sex workers yes but not for awhile. It is present on my hands, legs, sometimes tongue, palm, some part of chest down to stomach and waist but currently is on my hands and legs. Thank you.

Brief Answer:
?? Suspecting herpes, will need anti-viral meds

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again.

Thank you so much for being kind enough to be the mediator.

Based on the current information at hand, I do not believe this is related to any nerve or blood vessel (condition called phlebitis), as this would only have a rash localised in one region and will not be a generalized rash. I do not believe this is bacterial or fungal infection that would respond to antobiotics or anti-fungal medication.

I do concur with his doctor who stated that this could be viral, and possibly belong to the same family as chicken pox, which is herpes. I strongly believe this could be herpes, and that your friend should be tested for herpes (both HSV-1 and HSV-2), and simultaneously begin anti-viral medication.

In my opinion the sex workers in the past could have brought this on, and so we will most certainly need anti-viral coverage. Please request him to speak to his doctor, who believed this is a strain of herpes, to initiate the required medications (e.g. acyclovir, ganciclovir, etc.) to tackle the virus.

I hope you find my response both helpful and informative. I also hope your friend finds relief with the way forward that I have provided. Please do not hesitate to write to me keeping me updated. I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
