Question: First of all, I am not mentally ill. Now, I recently traveled to XXXXXXX Az for 5 days and on way back had a lay over at LAX. Used bathroom several times..sat on someone's pee once by accident on toilet seat. By time I arrived in XXXXXXX I was experiencing extreme itching on upper left thigh. No rash.
Next night my outer hood of vagina and outer anus were itchy. A jumping crawling sensation( still going on). I went to gyno who tested for stds and yeast. I had no sexual intercourse. All negative.
Even with Benadryl and lidocaine cream, I wake up to a severe crawling, itching feeling. I think it might be scabies? My whole family are doctors but told me to go to a dermatologist for testing.

Brief Answer:
Seems to be fungal infection, scabies unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for being at HealthcareMagic
I am Dr Asmeet Kaur Sawhney, Dermatologist.

I have gone through your complaints and you seem to have contracted some infection from using a public toilet most likely a fungal infection.

Scabies seems unlikely as it is associated with severe itching at night and sites of itching are sides and web spaces of fingers, wrist, axilla, breast, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.

Also scabies present with itchy bumps and nodules.

If I were your treating doctor I would recommend you to apply anti-fungal cream like Clotrimazole cream or Miconazole cream on the affected areas twice daily and take antihistaminic like tablet Cetrizine 10 mg twice daily for 7-10 days.

This should resolve your problem.
In case these remain persistent despite this, you do need to see a dermatologist and get yourself examined clinically.

Feel free to get back to me in case of any further queries.
Regards
Dr Asmeet

I do have severe itching at night.. on my left thigh, hood of vagina and buttocks. I also have a rash on wrist. Thanks for your reply but my brother already called in Permrthrin Cream 5%. I already told you I tested negative at gyno for yeast. I have had ringworm and it doesn't wake me up in the night in severe itching and crawling in the same specific spots. I'm betting on Pyrethrins not fungal on this one.

Brief Answer:
You can go for permethrin lotion

Detailed Answer:
If you feel your symptoms are more in favour of scabies then go for permethrin 5 percent lotion.
