Question: My daughter suffers from ptsd and is a trauma survivor. recently her eating disorder became critical. now at an rtc and eating. she exhibits paranioa about her food and is very ocd. she has to put volume on even numbers and cannot stop exercising. she does jumpimg jacks in the shower. she was put on zytresa bur we are trying to get her off it and on a more anxiety focused med. My question is ....can she overcome the the ocd and paranioa if the anxiety levels are reduced and she continues to work on her trauma. Although the ocd and eating disorder were there, I think reporting her abusers to the sherrifs put her in a tail spin

Brief Answer:
There is chance but I think possibility is very low

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic.

I read your query and understand your concerns.

In my view there is need to use SSRI along with working on naxiety and trauma experience. We need to understand that due to poor response to tried remedies she has developed critical eating disorder, paranoia and OCD. In other words her PTSD despite being the root cause creating ground for other psychiatric disorders.

I understand your concern that if you treat underlying cause there will be improvement in subsequent disorders but we need to take into consideration the complexity of current presentation and there is need to treat her on all aspects till things become manageable.

I hope this helps you.
If you have more questions feel free to write back to me.
Thanks and regards.
