Question: I have internal Hemerriods. that bleed from time to time I was given Hydrocrotisone 25 mg suppositories, to take twice daily. I also have ITP low blood Platelets and take Nplate weekly.. The bleeding will start some days a few hours after a bowel movementin the morning. May last mildly off and on for hours . Most all the time by the next morning bowel movement it is gone or just some blood on the stools then it goes away. for a day or two then th eprocess may start over again. This ia very stressful for me..I had a anoscope exam and the DR said he could see the hemerriod bleeding I spent the night in ER they took CBC's and said that my blood loss was nothing.. I take Hem clear capsels . Do you feel the Hydrocortisone is doing more harm then good.

Brief Answer:
There are medicines that reduce congestion also

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome to HCM and thanks for your query.
The hemorrhoids will have a tendency to bleed more if the platelets are low.
Constipation and straining at stools also lead to bleeding.
Hydrocortisone suppositories reduce the inflammation only.
There are other medicines that reduce the congestion in the hemorrhoids.

what do I do to stop the bleeding now. It seems I have some clots now. The tissue when I wipe is saturated. This has happen a few times before and usually by the next day it stops. I was thinking of going to the ER but the last time they just took a CBC and had me spend the night, Took another CBC and sent me home still bleeding. It stops after I was home fir awhile. The ER Dr useda anoscope on me and said he saw the hemeriod bleeding and gave me a enama that really did not work. The trama of the scope test just made it worse.

Brief Answer:
Dicynene and Doxium may help

Detailed Answer:
I give my patients the following in such situations . Dicynene 500mg twice a day orally along with Doxium 500mg twice a day orally. This would stop the bleeding in most people.
Once the bleeding stops, there are suppositories that would decrease the congestion.
Please check with your doctor. If he/she agrees you could try the same.
