Suggest Treatment For Internal Hemorrhoids

Posted on Sat, 27 Dec 2014
Question: I have an internal hemorrhoid. I had no problems regarding bleeding during the past few years. I had occasional bleeding...controlled with Preparation H. Last January ( 2014 ) I had a mild heart attack and needed a stent in the artery....I have been taking Effient and 81 mg aspirin, daily, for blood thinning since the stent placement. recently ( past 1 1/2 mos. ) I have increased bleeding, helped somewhat by using canasa suppositories.....Question..can I have any kind of surgery for the hemorrhoid given the use of blood thinners ? I am scheduled to stop the thinners at the end of January 2015. Should I continue with the canasa suppositories, which give me lots of gas..???

Brief Answer:
Can schedule surgery after stopping blood thinners...

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I have gone through your medical history and understood your concerns.

1. Once you stop blood thinners by end of January 2015, you can schedule surgery for hemorrhoids as per your surgeon advice.

2. You are reporting to be using canasa suppositories, This is not a typical medication for hemorrhoids. May I know why the doctors advised it? It is commonly used in inflammatory diseases.

Hope it was of help!
