Brief Answer:
Surgery can be avoided.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
The injury on your little finger is not a serious one. In case the finger tip is not black in discoloration and the sensations are intact then it can be treated conservatively. You can do a ice fomentation in the area for the swelling to reduce. A digital X-ray of the finger will help in a better evaluation.
Keeping the finger strapped with the next finger will help in immobilization and will decrease the pain. Surgery is not immediately needed. Conservative treatment can be tried.
I hope this answers your query.
In case you have additional questions or doubts, you can forward them to me, and I shall be glad to help you out.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.

sir thanks a lot for the response. i have submitted the digital xray only along with the query. is there any other xray that can be done apart from this?
Also Dr told me that there is one broken piece near the bottom tip of the little finger, how will this get aligned?

Brief Answer:
A minor fracture.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Thanks for writing again.
You have a minor chip fracture of distal interphalangeal joint. It is a minor injury and can be treated conservatively. If there is adequate reduction on strapping- this can be checked by doing X-ray again after a closed reduction by your orthopedician then it will heal well.
In case the displacement is persistent then a small wire can fix it. Do consult with your orthopedician for the best approach.
Hope my answer is helpful.
